MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS for all ACLS Courses:
1) A current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification card to bring to class (we will copy & return cards, must have front and back of cards)
- Student must present a current BLS card at the time of class
- Only BLS cards issued by American Heart Association (AHA) will be accepted
- Card must still be current (not expired) on the day of class
2) A current AHA (2010/2011 version) ACLS Provider Manual
- Must be the current AHA (2010/2011) version
- Must be by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Manuals may be borrowed from your employer or purchased from us or another distributor ***CLICK HERE to purchase manuals*** Please note: we do not provide loaner manuals - all students are responsible for obtaining a current manual prior to class, and must have to use in class
3) Pretest completed prior to class and bring printout of results
- Students will find instructions on how to access the precourse assessment online in the 2010 version of the AHA's ACLS Provider Manual (pretest web link is on bottom of manual page ii)
- Once completed, the pretest results must be printed out and brought to class
4) Review the "Core Cases" in the ACLS Provider Manual
- ACLS may be very difficult to pass without studying the material prior to the class
- Once you have registered and paid for an ACLS course with us, we will e-mail you an ACLS study guide, which helps students to know what areas need to be focused on while preparing for class. The study guide is supplemental, and does not replace the required AHA ACLS Provider Manual, 2010/11 version
5) Cardiac rhythm recognition
- Basic EKG rhythm interpretation is reviewed ONLYin ACLS part 1 (day one, 8am-12pm). Though the basic interpretation is reviewed, students should familiarize themselves with the basic arrhythmias prior to class, for the best class outcomes. Rhythm information can be found in the ACLS Provider Manual (by AHA), as well as in the ACLS Study Guide - a 10 page supplemental by All Care, provided to all students upon class registration, to assist in pre-course preparation.
- ACLS parts 2, 3, and 4 all expect students to be able to identify basic arrhythmias, prior to class. ACLS will be very difficult to pass without basic rhythm recognition skills.
- Anyone who needs to learn, brush up on, and have extra practice with rhythm reading is welcome to attend the full course (even if you only "need" to attend the renewal / update course).
- Advanced life support students must be able to recognize the following basic rhythms, or will likely have a very difficult time passing the course: NSR, SB, ST, SVT, VF, VT, PEA, & Asystole. ACLS students are not expected to interpret a 12 lead EKG.
6) Renewal students only - current AHA ACLS certification card to bring to class
- Renewal students must present a current ACLS card at the time of class (in addition to a current AHA issued BLS card)
- Only ACLS cards issued by American Heart Association (AHA) will be accepted
- Card must still be current (not expired) on the day of class to attend the renewal class, or expired less than a year to attend the "expired certification" 12 hour course. If no ACLS card presented
at class, students will be charged for the full course.
Course fees are non-refundable. Late rescheduling requests will be charged an extra fee. No shows forfeit entire course fee. Certification cards issued at the end of class, upon successful completion of course requirements ***CLICK HERE to see rescheduling policies and fees***
*By proceeding with class registration, you acknowledge and agree to the ACLS class requirements and policies, as outlined above. Certification cards will not be issued if class requirements are not met*
